Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Pakistan held a pre-departure orientation session for 10 participants from the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) for the Country-Specific Training Programme on "Strengthening the Competition Regime (Pakistan)" scheduled to be held in Korea from 5-18 August 2018.
The training programme aims to provide useful insight into Korea's development experience and to strengthen the capacity of the CCP to promote free competition in all spheres of commercial and economic activities, to enhance economic efficiency, and to protect consumers from anticompetitive behaviours.
Addressing at the occasion, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Pakistan, His Excellency Kwak Sung-Kyu, welcomed the participants and said that this training will strengthen the CCP's enforcement capacities, both in legal procedures and economic analysis of competition cases, investigatory methods and in advanced economic theories. Moreover, the training course will provide the participants opportunities to share their experiences and to learn from the Korean experts.
Vadiyya Khalil, the CCP Chairperson, thanked the Korean Government, KOICA, and the Korean Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) for their support to the Commission for the training course, which will be extremely useful for the Commission's capacity building and strengthening the competition regime in Pakistan. She also thanked the Economic Affairs Division and the Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan, for extending their support to the Commission's capacity building initiatives.
The participants assured their support for strengthening ties between Pakistan and South Korea. In the orientation session, Abdul Rehman Khan, Programme coordinator of KOICA, introduced the course and briefed the participants about the pre-departure logistics of the training programme.
