The Karachi Port handled 192,922 tonnes of cargo comprising 172,999 tonnes of import cargo and 19,923 tonnes of export cargo including 9,387 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 172,999 tonnes comprised of 56,957 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,230 tonnes of bulk cargo; 28,521 tonnes of coal; 950 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 8,000 tonnes of DAP and 62,341 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,923 tonnes comprised of 17,923 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,387 containers comprising of 4,182 containers import and 5,205 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,256 of 20's and 1,310 of 40's loaded while 304 of 20's and 01 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 450 of 20's and 319 of 40's loaded containers while 1,415 of 20's and 1,351 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely Express Suez, Ever Union, RHL Constantia, ELM Galaxy, Lion-M, Ardmore Exporter, Fortune Wing, Opec Fortune, Liberty Peace and AP Sveti Vlaho carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, chemical, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Anton Schulte, Maliakos, Opec Fortune and Hanton Trader-1 carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely YM Bamboo and Anton Schulte carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Polo and Omera Queen carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were five vessels viz. CMA CGM Amazon, Hyundai Loyalty, Xin Hong Kong, As Orelia and MU Mian Song carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while seven vessels viz. Cosco Colombo, Conti Darwin, MSC Positano, Sun Globe, Captain Yannis L, Atlantas-II and BBC Nyhavn carrying containers, wheat, DAP, molasses and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 119,934 tonnes includes 10,100 tonnes of palm oil; 48,656 tonnes of coal; 12,591 tonnes of soyabean; 9,984 tonnes of chemical; 603 tonnes of bitumen and 38,000 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,056 tonnes includes 27,056 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,434 containers comprising of 2,000 containers import and 1,434 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were two ships namely MV SC Shen Zhen and MT Nanuela Bottiglieri carrying chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maersk Hartford, CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Bitumen Queen, MV Heilan Spring, MV African Avocet, MV Alora, MV SC Shen Zhen and MT Nanuela Bottiglieri were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV Conti Darwin, MV Hong Harvest, MV Big Fuji, MV RB Leah, MV Alster Bay, MV Magda-P, MT Gas Amazon, MT Maria-III, MT Pike, MT Meltemi, MT Athina and MT Al Soor-II carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, cement, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Conti Darwin, MV Hong Harvest, MV Alster Bay and MT Gas Amazon carrying containers, general cargo, coal and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore and Coal Berth and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There are two ships namely CV SM New York and CV CMA CGM Almaviva carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV Hugo Schulte and CV CMA CGM Georgia carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
