The Punjab Revenue Authority in just six years has managed to increase its total number of taxable services to 62 whereas the total number of registered tax payers, which was 2500 in 2012, has crossed 50,000. During its growth, the department has introduced revolutionary steps including the establishment of e-courts, introduction of restaurant invoice monitoring system (RIMS), implementation of sales tax real time invoice verification system (STRIVE), tax clinics for different sectors, electronic monitoring system for courier services and hotels whereas during the financial year 2017-18 the revenue collection crossed Rs 100 billion for the first time ever. These were the words of Chairman PRA Dr Raheal Ahmed Siddiqui on the occasion of a two-day visit of KPRA representatives to PRA headquarters.
During their visit at the office of PRA, the delegates were briefed about the working mechanism of the agency, especially the concept of E-PRA. During the second sessions, they were also given a thorough presentation on the implementation and working of STRIVE and RIMS. The KPRA team was given detailed presentation on reform initiatives under taken by the PRA.
The KPRA members also supervised and appreciated the simulation exercise of senior interns being conducted under the PRA internship program.
The visiting members included Additional Collector Rashid Javaid Rana (KPRA), Assistant Collector Enforcement Raheal Iqbal (KPRA), Director ICT Muhammad Shiraz (KPRA), Deputy Director Software Muhammad Asad (KPRA), Budget Officer Reena Shaheed Soherwordi (Finance Department KPRA), Faisal Shahzad Financial Specialist (World Bank).
