Caretaker Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Science and Technology, National Health Services, Information Technology and Religious Affairs Muhammad Yousif Shaikh called on University of Sindh's (SU) vice chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat at the VC House in Jamshoro to discuss matters related to academic, research, professional and development of the university.
Shaikh shared his pleasant memories at the university and evinced keen personal interest in the uplift of his Alma Mater. He assured him of all out support, cooperation and help.
"In my personal as well as professional capacity, Sindh University has always remained my priority and serving it has always remained a source of special joy for me," he said.
The minister further he was delighted to see the UoS having grown into an excellent seat of higher learning in Pakistan, with a potential to become one of the finest universities in South Asia. He was pleased and satisfied to see administrative responsibilities in the seasoned hands of as honest, dedicated, experienced, trained and qualified a person as Dr Burfat whom he knew for the past many years as a teacher as well as a development expert in national and international settings. He lauded his extraordinary academic and management credentials.
Shaikh stressed the need for mobilization of alumni association of the varsity, pleading that many in the alumni occupied highly important, powerful and key academic and political positions in and outside Pakistan; hence they could play pivotal significant role in progress of their mother institution and subsequently for welfare of society in Pakistan and of Pakistani diaspora spread all over the world.
"In today's digital technological times, constant alumni contact and interface through association platform will certainly lead to positive progress," the minister said.
Vice Chancellor Dr Burfat hailed his proposal and told him that the UoS already had formed its alumni association that remains active. However, he agreed that concerted effort was needed to become more vibrant, productive, participatory and profitable network.
