Narendra Modi's government has taken one more decision to alienate Muslim minority by excluding 4 million people from the northeastern state of Assam, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist party came to power for the first time in 2016 promising action against illegal immigrants. Assam's neighbouring state of West Bengal has taken the lead in opposing the citizenship exercise.
The BJP government has taken this decision with a view to brightening its electoral prospects. It believes that the appeasement of majority is the only way to seek re-election. Little does BJP know that it has planted seeds of disintegration of India through its ultra-right approach to the rights of minorities. The current BJP leadership is the reincarnation of Hitler or Mussolini.
