The Supreme Court Friday issued contempt of court notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf member-elect of National Assembly, Aamir Liaquat, for violating his undertaking and the apex court's order. The former anchor of BOL TV channel has been directed to file a reply of the show cause notice within 14 days.
After viewing the video clips of Aamir Liaquat's TV programs, which were played in the courtroom, the Chief Justice inquired from Aamir Liaquat whom he described as son and father of India. He replied that he used these words for Indian PM Narendra Modi and Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval.
The Chief Justice angrily said: "Don't tell a lie. Whether such kinds of people be allowed to sit in the Parliament who do not have control on their tongues? Should one utter derogatory words on TV?" Aamir Liaquat on March 06, 2017 had given an undertaking that in future he would refrain from making hate speeches or abusing other media groups.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan observed that there were 13 complaints against Liaquat's program in the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). Faisal said he (Liaquat) is repeated offender of hate speech.
