The interim chief minister Punjab Dr Hasan Askari Friday said that Pakistan possesses tremendous opportunities of investment in trade, investment and commerce sectors but adoption of suitable policies is imperative. "Trade, investment and commerce sectors are very crucial for strengthening of economy and provision of job opportunities to the youth," he said while talking to provincial minister for industry, trade and investment and mines Mian Anjum Nisar who called on him, here today. During the meeting, different proposals were discussed to address the problems of industrialists and business community.
Mian Anjum Nisar, who himself is a leading industrialist apprised the interim CM about host of issues facing the business community, the sources said. He also apprised the chief minister about the performance of his departments.
Dr Askari said that trade, commerce and investment sectors are intertwined with each other and their durable development and promotion is the basis of strong national economy.
However, he said that sustained steps should be taken to bind the industrial sector to follow relevant labour laws, water treatment and other rules and regulations. Similarly, implementation of environmental laws should also be ensured by relevant government departments and area administration. He said Halal foods carries big scope in international markets and Pakistani traders should strive to take full benefit of international opportunities. He added that many natural resources exist in the province of Punjab and there is a need to exploit these bounties for the collective benefit of the people.
Moreover, Dr Hasan Askari has expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of three children due to falling of roof in Kausr.
He has extended sympathies to the bereaved family and sought a report from the administration.
