The Karachi Port handled 229,494 tonnes of cargo comprising 182,358 tonnes of import cargo and 47,136 tonnes of export cargo including 4,790 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 182,358 tonnes comprised of 58,083 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,949 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,847 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 33,278 tonnes of DAP and 82,201 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,136 tonnes comprised of 17,954 tonnes of containerised cargo; 244 tonnes of bulk cargo; 17,638 tonnes of wheat and 11,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,790 containers comprising of 2,550 containers import and 2,240 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 638 of 20's and 906 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 50 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 280 of 20's and 268 of 40's loaded containers while 562 of 20's and 431 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely OOCL Busan, Virgo, MSC Cheryl-3, Alpine Persefone, Nord Spring, Fortitude and Dolphin Star carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Wan Hai-515, Virgo, MSC Cheryl-3, Omera Queen, BW Amazon, Oriental Protea, Heilan Journey and KSL Fu Yang carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 127,364 tonnes comprising 100,574 tonnes of import cargo and 26,790 tonnes of export cargo including 2,111 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 100,574 tonnes includes 48,700 tonnes of LNG; 2,800 tonnes of palm oil; 20,363 tonnes of coal; 15,373 tonnes of soyabean and 13,338 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,790 tonnes includes 26,790 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,111 containers comprising of 701 containers import and 1,410 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were three ships namely CV Express Suez, CV Maersk Jalan and MT Concerto carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Express Suez, CV Maersk Jalan, MV African Buzzard, MV Navios Chrisline-B, MV RB Leah, MT LNG Lusail and MT Concerto were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely CV Sea Span Oceania, CV MSC Al-Geciras, MV Orion-III, MV Cecilia-B, MV Sakizaya Miracle, MV Dore, MV North Colombia, MT Maria-III, MT Athina, MT Pike, MT Meltemi, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Mega-1 and MT Chem Bull Dog carrying containers, soyabean, rape seeds, rapeseeds, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were three vessels viz. CV Sea Span Oceania, CV MSC Al-Geciras and MT Chem Bull Dog carrying containers and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Denver and CV MSC Maria Elena carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
