Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who won July 25 election from Punjab constituency PP-10, Rawalpindi-V, did not appear on Wednesday in the first session of 17th Punjab Assembly. Ch Nisar's absence in the session was felt by the media as well as members of the provincial assembly in the inaugural session in which newly-elected MPAs took oath of their office.
The PML-N MPAs took oath of their office wearing black bands on their arms. Sources claimed that Nisar is not likely to take oath as MPA till induction of new Punjab government. It may be noted that Nisar had defeated independent candidate Naseer-ul-Hasnain Shah who stood second by securing 22,253 votes while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Naveed Sultana grabbed third position by getting 19,247 votes.
