Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz, who is also the PML-N candidate for the slot of Punjab Chief Minister, said on Wednesday that they would raise the issue of rigging in General Election 2018 on every forum. Talking to media before taking oath as MPA on Punjab Assembly premises, Hamza said his party will hold protests against the rigging inside and outside the House.
"We have come to Assemblies to play our constitutional role," he said. "The PML-N and other parties had rejected the election results." Paying tribute to Nawaz Sharif, he said the sacrifices of former prime minister won't go in vain. He added that Nawaz surrendered before the law. After decision of accountability court, he returned from London and went to jail. On the other hand, a disqualified person (Jehangir Tareen) used a plane to win support of MPAs-elect for the PTI. Hamza expressed his firm resolve to play the role of strong opposition. "We suffered injustice of Pervez Musharraf courageously for 10 years. We served the people whole heartedly. People voted in favour of the PML-N but the victory went to somebody else," he said.
The PML-N senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique, who also took oath as MPA, talked to media and said that the government in Punjab is being formed on the basis of horse trading. "The way MPAs-elect were brought in a plane shows the real foundations of new Pakistan," he said. "If we have to sit in opposition then we will give Imran a tough time." Saad further said the PTI leaders "are not ready for recounting in NA-131" and "attempts were made to convince returning officers and the Supreme Court" not to re-tally ballots in the constituency.
