Shama Tigers clinched the trophy after defeating Shama Panthers in the final by four wickets in the Azadi Twenty20 Cricket Cup played here at Gymkhana Cricket ground Wednesday. President, Peshawar District Cricket Association Asghar Ali was the chief guest on this occasion. Secretary PDCA Haji Hanif Shah, who was also organizing secretary of the event, officials Alam Zeb and Shakeel, and large number of players and spectators were also present.
Skipper and international cricketer of Shama Panthers Club Adil Amin won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 198 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Adil Amin hammered a cracking 71 runs including three towering sixes and six boundaries, Adil Kareem struck another elegant knock of 53 runs with five boundaries and two sixes, Fazal-e-Haq made 33 runs. For Shama Tigers Asad Ullah claimed two wickets, Muhammad Ilyas and Haroon took one wicket each.
In the reply, Shama Tiger chased the target for the loss of 19.3 overs for the loss of six wickets. Asad Ullah was the man behind Shama Tigers victory as they needed 16 runs in the last over when Asad Ullah hammered three consecutive sixes to guide his team to a convincing four wickets victory. Mamoon Ihrahim, who was declared as best batsman by scoring 190 runs in three matches, scored 69 runs including three sixes and five boundaries, Saqib scored 43 runs with six boundaries, while Asad Ullah scored 29 runs off just 10 balls. At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies, cash prizes to the position holders.
