Shabbir Hussain Chawla President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) has expressed satisfaction on the successful and peaceful completion of transition of power process in Pakistan. Talking to newsmen, he congratulated Prime Minister Imran Khan, provincial chief ministers, speakers and parliamentarians and hoped that they would make joint and collaborated efforts to drag out Pakistan from the decade long economic quagmire
He said that Pakistan is facing multiple problems, and new government of Imran Khan should focus on economic issues which would involve the major issues of people of Pakistan. New government should put Pakistan on road to progress and prosperity by weeding out corruption from the government and political structure.
He said that widening gap between import and export is a matter of concern coupled with heavy load of foreign and domestic loans. He said that all political parties should now come out of their petty differences and work with a national spirit to make Pakistan a prosperous country in the comity of nations. He hoped that political parties should also display political maturity and tolerance in handling major economic issues.
"They should avoid taking such steps which may have negative impact on the national economy", he hoped. He further said that the current issue is high cost of doing business in Pakistan which must be trimmed through major policy interventions and facilitation so that we could manufacture exportable surplus at competitive rates. He said that taxation system also needs extensive reforms. The tax system should be simple so that every person could easily pay its due tax liabilities and concentrate on their business enhancement.
He also mentioned reforms in other social sectors in addition to providing fundamental and basic facilities of health, education and clean drinking water to the masses. He said that government should also revisit foreign policy to make it in best national interest without repeating the previous political blunders. "We should also try to cultivate good relations with all countries on mutual interest basis", he added.
