A group of sacked judges have complained that they have been terminated without any solid reason, proper evidence and demanded of chief justice of Peshawar High Court to review the decision and ensure fair trial in their case.
Speaking at a joint press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday the sacked additional district and sessions Judges Naeem Iqbal, Aurangzeb Khan and civil judge/judicial magistrate Shakeel-ur-Rehman said that they held high judiciary in high esteem and wanted it to provide them justice. "We were simply informed in a show cause notice that we had violated discipline but no one bothered to provide any kind of evidence as to what kind of violation was committed by us," they said and added that public expected justice from judiciary and the judges were dispensing justice but they were not given justice.
Besides, they said that they had moved a writ petition in Peshawar High Court but despite that they were terminated in an undue haste. "Due to the delay in hearing of our petition in Peshawar high court we also moved a petition in Supreme Court for early hearing of our petition and requested for postponement of our personal hearing but to no avail," he said. The former judges said that every accused person and even the terrorists were given the opportunity of fair trial but they were not given the chance at least to know their sin/mistakes, saying that they wanted to know the reasons of their termination and to get opportunity to clarify their position in the case.
Naeem Iqbal said that he served judiciary for 20 years, Aurangzeb Khan for 16 years and Shakeel for 11 years and now they would be unable to do any other job in the prevailing situation except to start practice as lawyers from the very beginning. The former judges said that the reports about their termination was released to media which further damaged them, adding that it was tantamount to their media trial.
