Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Sunday extended support to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif as leader of the opposition in National Assembly. Through a letter sent to Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and signed by PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah and Raja Pervez Ashraf, the party announced to support Shehbaz Sharif for the lucrative slot.
In the letter, the PPP has contended that PML-N has the right to nominate its candidate for the office of the leader of the opposition. PML-N emerged as the second largest political party in the National Assembly with 81 members followed by PPP which has a total of 54 members in the Lower House of the Parliament.
