Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday formed his cabinet, appointing eight ministers and two advisers whereas more ministers will be inducted after Eidul Azha. Acting Sindh Governor Agha Siraj Durrani administered oath to the newly-appointed ministers: Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Saeed Ghani, Shehla Raza, Ismail Rahu, Hari Ram, Shabir Bijarani, Syed Sardar Shah and Mahboob Makhdoom. Murtaza Wahab and Mohammad Bux Maher were appointed as advisers.
Along with his cabinet members, the chief minister visited Mazar-e-Quaid where he laid floral wreath at the grave of founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah and offered fateha. Then, Murad Shah recorded his impressions in the visitors' book.
Talking to the media at the Mazar-e-Quaid, Sindh CM said he has appointed a balanced cabinet and all the cabinet members are experienced and well-educated. He was sure his cabinet would be able to serve people of the province. He said Sindh contributes much in the divisible pool; more than any other province; therefore, Sindh may be given fair share in accordance with that contribution. "There are various issues on which federal government has to support Sindh government and among them NFC is the most important issue," he said, adding that they had already told the Centre in writing that the province of Sindh contributes more than 60 percent revenue in the divisible pool, therefore Sindh should be given fair share in the NFC Award. Murad Shah said it remains to be seen whether the federal government gives rights to the smaller provinces or not; however, Sindh would continue it struggle for just share.
Replying to a question on accountability, he said there must be proper accountability. He made clear they would not accept political victimization in the name of accountability. He vowed to strengthen Anti-Corruption Establishment further so that corrupt practices could be controlled. The chief minister said that in the 2018 election, people of Sindh have given more votes and seats to PPP and God almighty will guide us and give us strength to serve our people and come up to their expectations.
Answering a question about the PTI MPA who had beaten a citizen on the road, the chief minister said it was unfortunate and what he did was unacceptable. "We hope constructive politics and attitudes."
Murad Shah said federal government always made tall claims for giving special package to Karachi but they did nothing. The PML-N government had announced Rs 25 billion package for Karachi but it proved to be a lip service. He said Sindh government would welcome if the federal government [of PTI] gives special attention to uplift the city. To another question, the chief minister said that the cabinet would be expanded after Eid. Responding to another query, he said there were issues of growers regarding irrigation water and he was trying to resolve them.
