Nearly 48,850 officials will ensure security of 23,503 mosques, imambargahs and Eidgahs in the province while 1,575 CCTV cameras, 11,007 metal detectors and 162 walkthrough gates have been installed for security purpose. Already, security check and clearance of all mosques, congregation places (Eidgahs) and imambargahs has been ensured ahead of Eid prayers, said security officials.
It is worth mentioning that Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam has already held a meeting to finalise security arrangements, directing a three-layer security plan for Eidgahs, mosques and imambargahs throughout the province.
A heavy contingent of snipers has been deployed on the rooftops of mosques and imambargahs falling under the category of "A" while commandos in civil dress have also been deployed at the Eid gatherings.
The IG Police also directed to monitor collection of hides, stressing the field cops to ensure strict implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).
Meanwhile, many police officials have also been deployed for the security of recreational spots.
Also, a strict surveillance of proscribed organisations and individuals who are under the Fourth Schedule is being carried out to monitor their involvement in the collection of animals' hides The IGP further directed to increase patrolling hours of Police Response Unit (PRU), Dolphin and Anti-Riot Force (ARF) on all important roads and highways.
