Sindh Minister for Social Affairs, Prisons and Minorities Affairs Hari Ram Kishori Lal has directed relevant officials to prepare the "Data Bank" of all NGOs with their details in order to ensure their regular monitoring. "Categorisation of NGOs should be done through Data Bank," he said at a briefing by social welfare department. He said there was no practice of monitoring NGOs working across the province which was a serious issue that it needed immediate action. He said steps should be taken to prevent illegal activities, anti-social practice and unauthorized foreign funding to the NGOs.
"The SOPs for registration of NGOs should also be streamlined and reviewed so that only transparent and genuine organization may qualify for registration with social welfare department," he directed.
The Minster further asked the officials to issue an advertisement in leading newspapers for all NGOs to fulfill the preconditions, including annual audit report, work progress; giving them 30 days to comply with; in case of failure, their registration should be cancelled.
He remarked that maintaining good governance was top priority of Sindh government. He asked secretary social welfare to ensure the punctuality at all offices and centres of the department across the province. He directed him to ensure provision of required facilities at all Rehabilitation Centres for handicapped children.
Kishori Lal said that people of Sindh have reposed their confidence in PPP consecutively for third term." It is our priority to serve the masses and deliver as per their expectations.
