Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that there is a need to further strengthen trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Japan. He said that both the countries have stood with each other during testing times. He was speaking to Japanese Ambassador Takashi Kuria who called on him here at the Parliament House on Thursday.
Qaiser also shed light on the long history of economic and development cooperation between the two countries. He said that Japan and Pakistan not only share the same continent but also the same values of democracy and human freedom.
He said that Pakistan values its relations with Japan and wants to further cement them. He also called for enhancing collaboration between business communities of both the countries for their mutual benefit.
The speaker said that Pakistan is pursuing a policy of cooperation with all the countries and Japan stands prominently in its aspiration for cooperation. While discussing technical assistance to Pakistan from Japan, the speaker showed his keen interest for support and collaboration of Pakistani universities and technical education centres with Japanese universities.
Appreciating Pakistan's economic potential, Takashi Kuria highlighted that Japan will continue to work in order to strengthen economic relations with Pakistan. He endorsed Qaiser's proposal for diversification of trade and economic relations.
Endorsing Japan's commitment towards prosperous Pakistan, Takashi Kuria assured the speaker that Japan will accelerate its collaboration with Pakistan in uplifting its education, information technology and energy sector. He further said that Pakistan is an important pillar in Japan's outreach towards South Asia. On this occasion, Takashi Kuria also congratulated Qaiser on his election as the speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan.
