Justice Qazi Faez Isa of the Supreme Court on Saturday said Islam have strongly emphasized over preservation of nature and environment. He was speaking on climate change, conservation of water and Environmental principles in Islam during "First Lahore High Court Environmental Conference".
"Pakistan is a very beautiful country but we are not caring it," said Justice Isa. "Karachi has worst water crisis and the adjoining sea had turned into a threat for fishes and other animals there." He urged every citizen to play his role to protect the environment.
Justice Isa gave a number of references from Holy Quran and Sunnah to describe very close connection of nature and the human beings, saying that Islam strongly emphasizes over preservation of nature. He said it is increasing temperature which is turning our environmental into a threat. He personally observed how climate change had turned disastrous for Pakistan and how fast the glaciers had been melting down in northern areas of the country.
Justice Isa said human being is Naib of God on earth and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) clearly orders his followers not to waste water. Justice Isa also gave presentation on climate change, and said use of plastic is the major reason of environmental pollution. He showed many drains filled with plastic bottles. The judge said that entire Indus water was going to Sea and there was not system yet to save it. Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, LHC Justice Muhammad Irfan Khan, Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi, Justice Ali Baqar Najfi, Ahmer Bilal Soofi, Dr Pervez Hassan were also present there.
