The Returning Officers have accepted nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujaat Hussain from NA-65 Talagang and his nephew Moonis Elahi's from NA-69 Gujrat for by-election to be held on October 14. Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi had vacated these two seats after retaining the Provincial Assembly seat Gurat district.
Party sources say that both leaders are joint candidates of PML-Q and PTI and enjoy full support of local body's representatives, former parliamentarians, notables, prominent and popular personalities of all spheres of life as well as the people at large of these constituencies. Though several candidates have filed their nomination papers for by-election on these two important National Assembly seats the other main political parties in the field (PML-N, PPP, MMA) have yet to formally announce names of their nominees for party tickets.
