Minister for Food Samiullah Chaudhry has vowed to make Punjab free from adulteration and directed Punjab Food Authority to devise a special policy in collaboration with all concerned departments for the elimination of oestrogens and oxytocin injections injected in cows, buffaloes and camels to increase milk production. He also instructed PFA to continue vigorously its crackdown against substandard food points across Punjab.
The Minister was presiding over a meeting with the officials of PFA held at PFA here on Monday. Samiullah Chaudhry said that PFA's structure would be expanded and reformed with addition of food experts in the PFA Board as members.
He urged PFA to ensure merit and transparency in recruitments and make Testing Laboratories in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala functional as soon as possible for elimination of adulteration in eatables and food items. Earlier, Director General PFA Captain Muhammad Usman (retd) briefed the Minister about the progress of the authority and its ongoing projects. He said PFA is utilizing all available resources to ensure the provision of healthy food to the people. The Minister also planted a sapling in the PFA Headquarter under Prime Minister Tree plantation campaign.
