Sports can play pivotal role of laying strong foundation of the future generation so that they could meet the challenges of modern world and move the country towards progress and prosperity. These views were expressed by Muhammad Arif Madni, acting President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry while inaugurating three days long Defence Day Hyderabad Open Table Tennis Tournament organised by HCCI Sports Committee in connection with Defence Day celebrations here at City School Liaquat Campus Kohsar Latifabad on Tuesday.
The acting President HCCI said that great sacrifices were rendered by the Muslim of the Sub-Continent for creation of Pakistan and despite conspiracies, the armed forces with the support of the countrymen had defended the homeland.
The sacrifices of the Pakistan Army are unforgettable for the defence of the country and even today the army still engaged in rooting out terrorism, he said and saluted the sacrifices of the officers and jawans of Pakistan Army during war against terrorism.
He said that the HCCI had designed different events to acknowledge the services of Pakistan Army and organising table tennis tournament is also part of the Defence Day celebrations. The HCCI is keen to make the future generation healthy and enable it to meet the challenges of modern era therefore it has focused attention for promotion of sports activities in Hyderabad. Among others, the Principal City School Liaquat Campus Aliya Khalid, members HCCI Executive Committee Zulfiqar Chohan and Abdul Waheed and Chairman HCCI Sub-Committee on Sports Qaseem Qureshi were also present on the occasion.
