Punjab Industries department to abolish annual verification fee of measurements
The Punjab Industries Department in its meeting held on Wednesday decided to abolish annual verification fee of measurements. Punjab Minister for Industries, Trade & Investment Mian Aslam Iqbal while presiding over the meeting said that a draft bill for amendment in schedule will be sent to the provincial cabinet for approval. Millions of petty shopkeepers will be benefited from this policy decision of Punjab government.
It was also decided in the meeting to activate all the wings of the industry department along with re-notification of all district price control committees.
The Minister said that scales of weights and measures should be corrected within a week otherwise strict action will be initiated against those who would try to exploit the masses.
He directed to make monitoring system of essential commodities more effective and said he would personally monitor the price-mechanism of daily use items. "We should work as a team. Those who cannot serve the people should better go home," he warned.
Meanwhile, presiding over a separate meeting of Punjab Investment Board, the Minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the performance of the Board. The basic objective of the Board is to promote investment but unfortunately the Board's performance is unsatisfactory. The Punjab Investment Board will have to take practical steps for the promotion of investment, instead of paperwork, he said. He also directed the Faisalabad Industrial State Development and Management Company to provide necessary facilities to the local and foreign investors.
