Police said Ibrar Khalil was on way to home after attending funeral prayer in the area and when he reached Tehkal area; his car was targeted by unknown motorcycle rider. As result of the firing Ibrar Khalil and his nephew Arshad seriously injured and succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.
Ibrar Khalil was an active party worker of ANP and on the basis of his active politics he was awarded party ticket in July 25 elections. He was runner up after PTI candidate Pir Fida Mohammad and secured 8,260 votes in the race for the provincial Assembly.
Police have launched search operation in the area to arrest the responsible persons however police are clueless regarding the presence of armed assailants.
It is pertinent to mention that ANP workers are regularly being attacked since 2009 military operation in Swat when Taliban miscreants had strong hold in Swat. At that time ANP vehemently condemned terrorist attacks and killing of innocent people.
Later after launching of military operation Rah-i-Nejat, militants started attacking ANP leaders and even not spared the son of Mian Iftikhar Hussain, who was targeted being the lone son of ANP leader.
