A ban on the registration of vehicles for non-filers has caused millions of rupees loss to the excise and taxation department as the registration of vehicles has dropped by 23 percent during the first two months of the current fiscal.
It may be noted that the new financial act has restricted registration of vehicles of those not filing their returns with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Accordingly, the department started refusing registration of vehicles of non-filers that caused a loss of millions of rupees.
The number of 1300cc vehicles has dropped to 5700 vehicles during the first two months of current fiscal against 7600 vehicles during the corresponding period.
A similar drop has been witnessed in other vehicles during the current fiscal.
