Saudi Information Minister Awwad Bin Saleh Al-awwad Saturday called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and conveyed Saudi leadership's desire to work with the new government, the Foreign Office said. According to Spokesperson Foreign Office Dr Mohammad Faisal, Qureshi stressed the need for enhanced economic relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi minister for information, who is currently on a goodwill visit to Pakistan to convey the greetings and felicitations of Saudi leadership to the new Pakistani leadership, expressed the desire of the Saudi government to work closely with the new government in Pakistan to start a fresh chapter in the bilateral relations.
The spokesperson said that the foreign minister thanked the visiting dignitary and reciprocated sentiments of the Saudi leadership.
He highlighted the importance attached by Pakistan to its relations with the Kingdom and commitment of the government of Pakistan to translate the longstanding historic relations between the two countries into enhanced economic partnership. He emphasized the need to activate all existing institutional mechanisms between the two countries, to take the bilateral relations to the next level.
He also assured Dr Awwad of Pakistan's continued support to the Kingdom in attaining its Vision 2030. He invited Saudi investors to invest in Pakistan, which on completion of CPEC will become a market of a billion plus people.
The Saudi minister for information arrived in Islamabad on Friday last on a two-day visit. He will also call on the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan and also attend the oath-taking ceremony of President Dr Arif Alvi on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has assured full support to Pakistan in latter's efforts towards peace and stability.
Saudi Minister for Information Awwad Bin Saleh Al-awwad expressed these views during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the matters pertaining to bilateral interests came under discussion during the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Saudi information minister reaffirmed the Kingdom's full support to Pakistan in its efforts towards peace and stability. He also lauded the strong and brotherly bilateral relations between the two countries.
