At least one man was killed and another injured when a fire broke out in a multi-storey plaza, Ali Tower, on M M Alam Road, here Saturday. The fire erupted on the upper floors due to which the entire building was filled with thick smoke that fainted a number of people stuck up in the plaza.
According to Rescue 1122, a citizen, Imran, got panicked due to the fire and jumped down from the plaza who was shifted to a hospital in serious condition where he succumbed to his injuries while the other was under treatment in the hospital.
Meanwhile, according to sources, the Ali Tower was owned by Ali Imran, the son-in-law of former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif. They added that the records of two Punjab government's companies-Saaf Pani Company and Punjab Power Development Company- were maintained on the floor where the fire erupted.
