EAC member's resignation: ANP senator's signature on notice draws party members' ire
The signature of Senator Sitara Imran on the joint resolution of opposition against the selection of Atif Mian on the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) has attracted criticism among ANP ranks and termed as violation of the constitution of the party. The joint opposition in the Senate, upper house of the parliament have had submitted a joint call attention notice against the selection of Atif Mian, an economic expert belonging to Ahmadi sect. The uproar triggered with the nomination has forced Prime Minister Imran Khan to cancel his nomination.
The call attention notice beside, Sitara Imran also carrying the signature the Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidery of JUI-F, Senator Chaudhry Tanvir, Sardar Mohammad Yaqub Nasir of PML-N, Taj Mohammad Afridi (independent), Mir Kabir Ahmad and others.
Through the call attention the parliamentarians were diverting the attention of the chairman Senate towards the nomination of Atif Mian, a financial advisor to Mirza Masroor Qadiani, who was running the financial affairs of the headquarters of Qadiani Centre at London and also headed Qadiani mission in Africa and his loyalty with the sect.
The notice said that the question mark is that the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has nominated him as member of the financial commission that has created confusion among the people of the country and have sought clarification from the government in that regard. The signature of Sitara Imran of ANP has created uproar in the party ranks and they are openly criticizing the Senator through their comments on the Whatsapp Group carrying tag name of ANP legends.
Commenting on the signature, a former ANP woman parliamentarian has questioned that their party is playing on the wicket of mullahs and extremists. She said that if someone has objection over Atif Mian or any of the male dominated newly established council members' professional credentials then they should question them, but using their personal faith in pretty concerning.
