Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday expressed his government''s commitment for implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. He reiterated this commitment during a meeting with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi who called on him at the conclusion of his three-day official visit to the country in which he was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including three Vice-Ministers.
According to the media office of the PM House, regional situation and global issues were discussed during the meeting. It stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated that friendship with China is a cornerstone of Pakistan''s foreign policy.
The Prime Minister thanked Foreign Minister Wang Yi for the good wishes of Chinese leadership, it stated, adding that PM Khan also thanked Chinese Premier Li Keqiang for his congratulatory telephone call and for his message of support to the new Government. He also thanked the Chinese Premier for the invitation to visit China and looked forward to his visit and meetings with the Chinese leadership. The Prime Minister reiterated that the Government is committed to the implementation of CPEC.
According to the PM House, the State Councilor congratulated Imran Khan on assuming the office of Prime Minister and expressed best wishes of the Chinese leadership for his new government. Wang Yi also conveyed the desire of Chinese leadership to work with the new government for further enhancing the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, it stated, adding that Chinese FM underscored the significance of bilateral relationship which served as a model of friendship in interstate relations.
"Foreign Minister underscored the significance of CPEC for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries," it stated, adding that he also conveyed the invitation of Premier Li Keqiang for an official visit to Prime Minister Khan.
Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, accompanied by a high-level delegation including three ministers, visited Pakistan from 7-9 September 2018. During his stay in Islamabad, he held delegation level talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in which the two sides agreed to further deepen the bilateral relations and strategic cooperation in all areas.
He also called on the newly appointed President Dr Arif Alvi and also attended his swearing-in ceremony at the presidency on Sunday. The Chinese Foreign Minister also held meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday at the general headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. According to ISPR, matters related to regional security and bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi had called Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser. He also visited Ayubia National Park where walked along Ayubia track. He was also given a detailed briefing on Ayubia National Park by the Park officials. China''s Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing was also with the Chinese Foreign Minister.
