The objective of quality education in government schools can be achieved through provision of best teachers' training as they play the pivotal role in the success of their students. The government has therefore planned to initiate solid steps for the capacity building of teachers so that students could get world-class education for emerging as confident youth leaders in their practical life.
This was stated by Punjab schools education minister Murad Raas while presiding over meeting about Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development and program monitoring and implementation unit at his office, here Tuesday.
Special Secretary Nadeem ur Rehman, program director PIMU Asif Ali Farooq, DG QAED Iqbal Hussain and others attended the meeting. The meeting was briefed about the infrastructure and performance of the attached departments of the schools education department.
Addressing the meeting, Murad Raas stressed the need of holding holistic review of 14 indicators designed for district level ranking of the government schools in Punjab. The educational standard of government schools should be so high that they can compete the Aitchison or any other elite institution and parents prefer to admit their children in the government schools.
The meeting reviewed different proposals regarding provision of resources to government primary and high schools situated in remote and far-flung areas on priority basis.
The minister directed to provide proposals within seven days to provide quality education to the students. He also divulged that highly experienced educationists will be consulted to take concrete steps aimed at provision of world-class education to the students.
Later, education minister Murad Raas presided over a meeting of chief executive officers of schools education department of DG Khan Division at his office. He was given briefing about the performance and problems of district offices in the DG Khan division.
The meeting took a detailed review of different problems being faced by the district offices including rundown buildings, missing facilities, construction of additional classrooms, teachers' capacity building and recruitment of new teachers. The minister made it clear that every effort will be made to provide better education to students belonging to remote areas as quality education is their fundamental right and no compromise will be made on the quality of education.
