Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain Mohammad Safdar (retd.) were granted extension in their parole from September 12 to 17, Aaj News reported late Thursday night, adding that Punjab Home Department has notified the extension.
The three were released from Adiala Jail on 12-hour parole in the early hours Wednesday because of demise of Kulsoom Nawaz, the ailing wife of former premier.
They are staying in Lahore as Nawaz is receiving condolences. He will attend the funeral of Kulsoom Nawaz today (Friday) as more than a dozen members of Sharif family are on way to Pakistan from London from where flight carrying the coffin took-off. Police has been asked to shoulder responsibility for the three's security on behalf of jail's authorities. Nawaz Sharif was asked not to leave the place.
