The country is likely to witness its last monsoon spell from Friday through Sep 16, as the annual summer rainy season is diminishing from the mid of this moonth, the Met Office has said The monsoon weather system from Arabian Sea is likely to enter the upcountry from Friday. "A westerly wave is also likely to affect the upper parts of the country from Friday," it said, adding that scattered rains and gusty winds will blow through parts in upcountry until Sunday.
It said that scattered rain-thundershowers with gusty winds are expected in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad Pukhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Isolated falls are expected in Zhob, DG Khan and Multan Divisions from Friday to Sunday. Hailstorm, windstorm and sandstorm are also likely in sub-mountainous areas of Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Kashmir over period.
In the last 24 hours: Weather remained hot and humid in the most parts of the country with an isolated rain-thundershower in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Hazara Divisions besides Kashmir. Dalbandin and Sibbi were the hottest places with 43 degrees Celsius, Nokkundi, Turbat, Bhakkar and Noorpurthal 42, each. Murree received 39 mm of rainfall, Mangla 34 mm, Kakul 10 mm, Sialkot 8 mm, Jhelum and Balakot 5 mm, each.
Weather in Karachi is expected to remain partly cloudy with temperature ranging up to 33 degrees Celsius and humidity up to 80 percent during Friday and Saturday. Drizzle is likely across the coastal belt of Sindh in the next two days.
