The Punjab police have decided to partially suspend cellular service on the routes of main mourning procession on 10th of Muharram. "Keeping in view the prevailing security challenges, we have decided to partially suspend cellular service in Lahore on the routes of main mourning procession on 10th of Muharram," Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) BA Nasir Khan told media persons during his visit to important locations in the city on Monday.
He was accompanied by DIG (Operations) Shahzad Akbar, SP City Ahsan Saif Ullah, DSP Noulakha Atif Miraj and other relevant stakeholders. The CCPO also announced to carry out aerial surveillance of mourners, majalis, routes of processions and imambargahs through CCTV cameras. A strict security check will also be ensured to restrict entry of irrelevant persons into the processions, he added. It may be noted that the Punjab government earlier this month had imposed a ban on the use of unauthorised drone cameras across Punjab and directed the Punjab police to ensure its strict implementation.
