Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed increase during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.
The survey observed that during the week under review, prices of most of the vegetables, fruits and other essential kitchen items as well as daily use items witnessed an upward trend.
Onion price further went up from Rs 160 per 5kg to Rs 180 per 5kg in the wholesales market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 45 per kg. Best quality potato price further went up from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 170 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40-45 per kg against Rs 35 per kg, while sweet potato price went up from Rs 100 per 5kg to Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 25 per kg. Tomatoes price further went up from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 270 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 60 per kg.
Various qualities of garlic were available in the range of Rs 400-500 per 5kg against Rs 350-400 per 5kg, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 90-130 per kg against Rs75-100 per kg. Ginger price was found stable at Rs 900 per kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs200-220 per kg. Lemon price further went up from Rs 650 per 5kg to Rs 800 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 220 per kg against Rs 175 per kg.
Live chicken price went up from Rs 4,200 per 40kg to Rs 4,400 per 40kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 130 per kg and chicken meat was being sold at Rs 230 per kg against Rs 220 per kg. The eggs prices remained stable in wholesale and retail markets at Rs 85 per dozen and Rs 95 per dozen respectively.
Capsicum price further went up from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 125 per kg against Rs 95-110 per kg; taro (Arvi) price went up from Rs 120 per 5kg to Rs 270 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 65-70 per kg against Rs 35-40 per kg; local carrot price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 65 per kg against Rs 55 per kg.
Bean price further went up from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 380 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 90-95 per kg against Rs 70-80 per kg, okra price further went up from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 75 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, and price of ridge gourd (tori) went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg against Rs 50-55 per kg.
Turnip price went down from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50-60 against Rs 60-65 per kg, Maroo Kaddu price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 220 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs50 per kg against Rs 45 per kg, Loki Kaddu was being sold at Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg.
Tinda price went down from Rs 325 per 5kg to Rs 300 per 5kg, while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 65-70 per kg against Rs 70-80 per kg. Cauliflower price went down from Rs 400 per 5kg to Rs 280 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 65-70 per kg against Rs 90-100 per kg and cabbage price went up from Rs 130 per 5kg to Rs 170 per 5kg which in retail market being sold at Rs 50-55 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Brinjal price went down from Rs 220 per 5kg to Rs 160 per 5kg in wholesales market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35-40 per kg against Rs 50-60 per kg, peas price further went up from Rs 600 per 5kg to Rs 750 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 190-200 per kg against Rs 150-160 per kg, cucumber price went down from Rs 220 per 5kg to Rs 175 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45-50 per kg against Rs 50-55 per kg. Karela (bitter gourd) price went down from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 75-80 per kg against Rs 90 per kg.
Prices of all the major pulses witnessed a slight upward trend as white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 115 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 125 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 90-120 per kg against Rs 80-100 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 80 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) was being sold at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 100 per kg.
Sugar price remained stable at Rs 2,700 per bag which in retail was being sold at Rs 60 per kg. Packed milk price remained stable at Rs 1,550 per carton and tea price also witnessed no change. Good quality rice was being sold at Rs 140 per kg, normal quality rice at Rs 90 per kg, and wheat flour was available at Rs 750 per 20-kg bag.
Overall fruit prices witnessed an upward trend as Gaja apple was available at Rs 75-90 per kg against Rs 55-65 per kg, Chinese and other imported apples were being sold in the range of Rs 200-275 per kg, local Kala Kolo apple at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 110 per kg, and golden apple was available at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 75 per kg.
Local good quality banana was being sold at Rs 75 per dozen against Rs 60 per dozen, normal quality banana was available in the range of Rs 40-50 per dozen, good quality guava was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 55 per kg and normal quality guava was available in the range of Rs 40-45 per kg.
Best quality mangoes were being sold in the range of Rs 100-120 per kg, while normal quality mangoes were available in the range of Rs 70-90 per kg. Various qualities of peaches were available in the range of Rs 120-250 per kg against Rs 60-70 per kg and various qualities of grapes were being sold in the range of Rs 150-250 per kg against Rs 80-160 per kg. Sweet orange was available at Rs 120 per dozen, Chinese pear at Rs 140-180 per kg and Pakistani pear at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 65 per kg, while new arrival Kandhari pomegranate were being sold at Rs 200 per kg.
