The Karachi Port handled 325,026 tonnes of cargo comprising 216,201 tonnes of import cargo and 108,825 tonnes of export cargo including 9,039 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 216,201 tonnes comprised of 129,397 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,456 tonnes of bulk cargo; 13,137 tonnes of DAP and 67,211 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 108,825 tonnes comprised of 52,427 tonnes of containerised cargo; 239 tonnes of bulk cargo; 51,190 tonnes of clinker and 4,969 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,039 containers comprising of 4,533 containers import and 4,506 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,858 of 20's and 1,327 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 09 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,086 of 20's and 466 of 40's loaded containers while 920 of 20's and 784 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were eight ships namely Wehr Schulau, Virgo, Wan Hai-611, High Strength, Straum, YM Mirinda, Chrisopigi Lady and Hanne Danica carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were twelve vessel viz. OOCL America, Wan Hai-611, Virgo, MSC Jasmine, Hyundai Loyalty, MT Lahore, CSC Risingsun, Straum, Stolt Sequoia, Rowan-3, Magnum Force and Hanne Danica carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 86,537 tonnes comprising 56,688 tonnes of import cargo and 29,849 tonnes of export cargo including 2,063 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 56,688 tonnes includes 3,650 tonnes of palm oil; 38,736 tonnes of coal; 3,355 tonnes of chemical; 1,599 tonnes of bitumen and 9,348 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,849 tonnes includes 29,849 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,063 containers comprising of 492 containers import and 1,571 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely CV APL Phoenix and CV Diyala carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely MV Al-Jaber, MV Kmarin Singapore and MV SC Ningbo carrying bitumen, coal and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV APL Phoenix, CV Diyala, MV Al-Jaber, MV Kmarin Singapore, MV Rainbow-Ivy, MV SC Ningbo and MT Maritime Vanessa were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV MSC Beijing, CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Royal Princess, MV Hercules Ocean, MV Dias, MV Harmann-S, MV Mistic Eagle, MT Ejnan, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Ghrisopig Lady, MT Stena Premium and MT Sea Vine carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, LNG, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV MSC Beijing, CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Royal Princess, MV Dias, MV Mistic Eagle and MT Ejnan carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday. There were two ships namely CV MSC Pina and CV Maersk Pittsburgh carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
