Peshawar District Nazim Mohammad Asim Khan has presented a surplus budget of Rs 11.27 billion for the financial year 2018-19. The amount is included the estimates receipts of Rs 10.55 billion of the Provincial Finance Commission (PDC), Local Fund Rs.645.986 million and district grant of Rs 80.01 million during the year.
The developmental expenditure has been estimated at Rs 700 million while an amount of Rs 10.53 billion has been allocated for non-developmental expenditure. The district government has also allocated Rs 58.779 million for repair and maintenance while a grant of Rs.10 million has also been allocated for other departments. The estimated total expenditures of the local funds are Rs 644.629 million.
Unveiling the revised budget for financial year 2017-18, the district nazim said the estimated receipts of the year were Rs 11.30 billion as compared to estimated expenditures of Rs.11.20 billion.
Addressing the district council, the District Nazim Mohammad Asim Khan said provision of modern facilities in different sectors had remained top priorities of the government and have utilized all energies for the activation of the district institutes and increase in the receipts of the district government.
He said the district government had taken up the priorities on every forum and raised voice for its rights. He said the issue of the deduction in development fund for financial year 2017-18 was also raised with the provincial government and will continue work with the same zeal in future too.
Mohammad Asim Khan said for the provision of basic health facilities; the district government has shifted four Rural Health Centres (RHCs) and 10 Basic Health Units (BHUs) on solar energy that had cost an amount of Rs 40 million.
He said another amount of Rs 10 million has been allocated for the encouragement of those students of the public sector schools, who pass their examination by standing first and second. He said that topper of each high school will get a laptop while those getting distinction at Union Council will also be awarded.
For the provision of traditional and cultural activities, the district nazim said a modern food street has been established at Namak Mandi where beside traditional food the people will also get better environment. The food street, he said will generate millions of rupees receipts for the district government.
He said the topper students of the public sector schools in the district will be awarded with laptop and cash amount of Rs 35,000 while the toppers of the higher secondary schools will also receive a cash award of Rs 35,000.
