Samsung partners with rival Apple to support iTunes on its smart TVs
Apple and Samsung have been competitors since forever, however, in a turn of events, both the firms recently signed a deal to bring Apple’s iTunes movie and TV content, and AirPlay 2 support to Samsung’s 2019 smart TV lineup.
Samsung announced its partnership with Apple yesterday, according to which users owning Samsung 2019 smart TVs will be able to access iTunes movie and TV content, and also AirPlay 2 (Apple’s wireless streaming standard) support that will let iPhone and iPad owners to send content from their screens to the TVs.
A new iTunes Moves and TV Shows app will make its debut solely on Samsung smart TVs in over 100 countries, where the AirPlay 2 support will be available in 190 countries globally. Samsung also stated that support for 2018 Samsung smart TVs will be made available but via firmware update.

“We look forward to bringing the iTunes and AirPlay 2 experience to even more customers around the world through Samsung Smart TVs, so iPhone, iPad and Mac users have yet another way to enjoy all their favorite content on the biggest screen in their home,” said Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services at Apple.
Customers will be able to access their existing iTunes library and browse the iTunes Store in order to buy or rent from a selection of thousands of movies and TV episodes, including the largest selection of 4K HDR movies, said Samsung.
With AirPlay 2 support, Samsung customers can effortlessly play videos, photos, music, podcasts and more from Apple devices directly to Samsung Smart TVs, including the ‘QLED 4K and 8K TVs, The Frame and Serif lifestyle TV, as well as other Samsung UHD and HD models’.
