The Punjab University has received 123,400 applications during its first-ever online admission process. In a press statement, the PU spokesman said that on the instructions of PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed, the administration launched online admission system for facilitation of candidates from all over Pakistan.
The spokesman said that the university had witnessed peaceful and smooth admission process for the first time in the recent history due to the initiatives taken by the vice chancellor. He said that PU administration had ensured smooth functioning of online admission process so that none of the candidates could face any problem. He said that the university had also received the highest number of applications for admissions in various disciplines. He said that the online admissions initiative had helped save time and money of the candidates who had to come from remote areas.
He said that the administration also established 10 help-lines which worked in two shifts from 8am to 10pm. He said that the candidates and their parents had also appreciated PU administration's this step due to which they were able to apply for admission at their doorstep.
He said further that the applications of the candidates who had applied online must reach the departments concerned by October 5. He said that in-person submission of admission forms would not be entertained at any department. He said that PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad had appreciated the efforts of the whole team due to which this project met landmark success.
