A United States (US) based Sikh Organization, 'Sikhs for Justice' (SFJ) has approached Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi seeking 100,000 visas to the Sikh pilgrims for 550th birth year celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Pakistan. In this connection, SFJ has written a letter to Shah Mehmood Qureshi here on Friday.
The letter said we welcome and appreciate the Government of Pakistan's offer to establish Kartarpur Sahib Corridor Gurudwara for the purpose of granting access to the Sikhs from Punjab during the 550th birth year celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
SFJ is an international human rights advocacy group which believes in and adheres to UN Charter, Treaties and Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Year 2019 marks the 550th birth year of the first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Sikhs around the globe are looking forward to participate in the celebration events to be held in Pakistan, the land where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born and breathed his last.
SFJ with the backing of global Sikh community offers to bear the travel, boarding and lodging expenses of 100,000 pilgrims visiting Pakistan, letter maintained. Sikhs from across the globe and especially from Punjab hold Pakistan in highest respect as it is home to the historical Gurudwaras of the Sikh community, it added.
