The opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) appreciated Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi for strongly raising the issue of Kashmir during his speech in the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.
Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House on Monday, the PML-N and PPP members said that not only opposition but the whole nation is united on the issue of Kashmir.
Tahira Aurangzeb of PML-N while appreciating the foreign minister for strongly raising the issue of Kashmir in the UN General Assembly said that the opposition is united on the issue of Kashmir. She strongly condemned the Indian security forces which are brutally killing the people of Occupied Kashmir. She said that former Prime Minter Nawaz Sharif always raised the issue of Kashmir at international forums. She said that Pakistan would continue moral and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir.
Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf of PPP said that his party always strongly raised the issue of Kashmir at international forums. He said that founder of PPP Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had said, "If we have to fight for one thousand years for Kashmir, we will fight." He said that former Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had also raised the issue of Kashmir at every forum. He said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is also raising this issue.
He also appreciated Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi for strongly raising the issue of Kashmir in UN General Assembly and said that all opposition parties are united on this issue. "We will continue our moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir," he added.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday raised the issue of Kashmir while addressing the General Debate of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly and said the "unresolved dispute" is impacting achieving durable peace between India and Pakistan and remains a "blot on the conscience of humanity." He said that Pakistan wants a relationship with New Delhi based on "sovereign equality and mutual respect."
