German Consulate General and Goethe Institut will jointly organize a series of events in Karachi from October to December 2018, as part of "German Cultural Weeks 2018". German Consul General Eugen Wollfarth accompanied by Director Goethe Institute unveiled it at a press conference at Karachi Press Club here on Monday.
German Consul General stated that cultural exchange is an important part of life in Germany. "It is wonderful way to engage people in positive manner," said Eugen Wollfarth. He stated that this year's German Weeks offer a great line-up of events for people from all walks of life. Covering a wide range of themes, German Weeks will begin with the traditional German Academic Day and will also include a lecture on "100 years since the end of World War-I & German French friendship as a model for Pakistan & India" by the German Journalist and Political Scientist Ingo Espenschied.
German Weeks will also include the third German Consulate Football Cup, the annual meeting of German-Pakistani Chamber of Commerce & Industry, quiz contest with the students of universities and a classical music concert by German Musical Group "Trio Aust" in month of November.
German Consul General said that a rich cultural scene is a reliable indictor for a nation's prosperity. In the modern world, cultural exchange and dialogues are essential components of international relations. German Weeks are organized every year to facilitate easier access to German Culture and to encourage people to people contacts, Wollfarth said and hoped that the exciting and interesting events in German Weeks will enthuse and stimulate the festive dwellers of Karachi. Later, Consul General unveiled the brochure of German Weeks and invited the interested people to participate in host of events.
