Seed cotton prices were down on the cotton market on Tuesday in the process of moderate trading, dealers said. The official spot rate maintained overnight level at Rs 7650, they added. Prices of seed cotton in Sindh were down by Rs 100 to Rs 3500-3600, in the Punjab, rates were at Rs 3400-3600 and in Balochistan, prices of seed cotton were unchanged at Rs 3600-3800, they said.
In ready session, over 20,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 7500-8000, they said. According to the market sources, mills and spinners showed interest in fresh buying of lint cotton. They said that compensation deals finalised such as 600 bales of cotton from Sanghar, same number from Tando Alayar and 400 bales from Jhol at Rs 7100.
Cotton analyst, Naseem Usman said that local prices are moving in line with the world's leading market. Growers were facing tough time due to sharp decline in rates, he added. Reports suggest that cotton prices were down in the world market.
The following deals reported: 2000 bales of cotton from Shahdadpur at Rs 7500/7550, 2000 bales from Tando Adam at Rs 7500/7550, 400 bales from Moro at Rs 7775, 3000 bales from Nawabshah at Rs 7700/7725, 3000 bales from Khairpur at Rs 7750/7850, 2000 bales from Rohri at Rs 7750/7900, 1600 bales from Saleh Pat at Rs 7850/8000, 600 bales from Fazilpur at Rs 7800/7950, 400 bales from Rajanpur at Rs 7850/7950, 200 bales from Fort Abbas at Rs 7840, 200 bales from Alipur at Rs 7800, 200 bales from Bakhar at Rs 7800, 400 bales from Yazman Mandi at Rs 7800, 200 bales from Chichawatni at Rs 7750, 600 bales from Haroonabad at Rs 7700/7750, 40 bales from Vehari at Rs 7700/7750, 600 bales from Burewala at Rs 7600/7700, 200 bales from Layyah at Rs 7600, 600 bales from Faqeerwali at Rs 7500/7575, 400 bales from Bahawalpur at Rs 7500 and 600 bales from Garah Mor at Rs 7600/7700, they said.
