Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday expressed disappointment over performance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government, saying that there is a huge difference between leading a sit-in and the government. Speaking on the floor of National Assembly, he said that he had a lot of expectations regarding 'Naya Pakistan's' first budget, however, it made no mention of the government's 100-day plan."
He said the PTI voters are disappointed as the government has failed to even elaborate a policy for job employment for the youth.
"Development, health and education budgets were cut although you had promised to increase the budgets for health and education," he said, questioning the government as to where the first 100-day plan is. "The budget does not reflect the promises the government had made," he added.
Bilawal further said that farmers are facing difficulties and despite promises, no water scheme was announced. "Increase in prices of electricity and gas makes life of the poor difficult," he said.
He demanded that the Parliament should be informed regarding the steps being taken to remove Pakistan's name from the grey-list of Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
"You have to take wise decisions and not take u-turns," he said, "as this is a Parliament and not some container."
"Who will explain to the government that an economy does not depend on donations, politics is not done through hurling abuses and countries are not run on magic," he said.
Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif said the PML-N government under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif installed energy projects of 5000 megawatts and saved around Rs 160 billion in different projects.
He said that even government to government financing from China was made subject to bidding process to ensure transparency. Sharif assured the government of full support in its endeavour to increase revenue and tax base in the country.
Earlier, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal also criticized the PTI government for slashing multiple development projects in the budget.
Former prime minister and PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that current account deficit was $2.5 billion in 2013 when his party completed its five-year term in the office, and this increased to $18 billion under the PML-N government.
He said that a forensic audit of all development projects including Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project should be conducted and facts should be brought forth.
