The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought a compliance report from the secretary primary and secondary health services Punjab for setting up separate rooms for the treatment of transgender community in OPDs of all public hospitals.
The court on a previous order had directed the concerned authorities to ensure facility of dedicated rooms for transgender. The petitioner Ishtiaq Chaudhry contended in his petition that members of transgender community were being denied medical facilities at public hospitals. He said the Supreme Court had already issued an order to reserve a separate ward and room in OPD for transgender in public hospitals, but the same had not be complied with so far.
