Karachi University's Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan on Thursday said that the computerized roll numbers and smart cards have been issued implementing Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP System) and paper-free culture.
He said it would ease the process of attendance, fee payments and holding of examinations while parents will be informed about attendance and results of their children through SMS. He said varsities should be role model in the use of technology and paper-use must be minimized to save resources and time. He said the online system would save time by 60 percent and record of students would be easily available that would help facilitate and ease the examination process. He said they were seeking proposals for this system from reputed companies. He said students can get the fee voucher online.
"We are working on quality/standard of affiliated colleges. We need to use technological advancement in the field of education," the VC said, urging the government and HEC to assist University of Karachi, in this regard. He said higher education is important for a country's progress. He emphasised that we need to incorporate latest technology in our education system.
The vice chancellor announced a road map and vision for University of Karachi, under which, he said, his priority is to make the university an ideal educational institution of the country where students graduate and bring positive changes in the society and research scholars be provided best possible facilities.
