LG steals spotlight at CES 2019 with its 65-inch 4K rollable TV
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 has kicked off and LG has already stolen the show with some impressive new tech including a rollable TV that disappears into a small box when not in use.
LG’s rollable TV, officially named LG Signature OLED TV R, turned heads at CES when the firm demonstrated the incredibly thin TV that, with just a single push of a button, rolled out of a box when in use and rolls back in when not, like there wasn’t anything there in the first place.
LG debuted a prototype of this TV last year at CES 2018 before being officially introduced this year. The TV is a 65-inch display and has a 4K Ultra HD/HDR capability. The TV rolls back into a relatively slim and attractive piece of furniture when not in use. The TV has a soundbar built into the base that can be used as a speaker even when the TV is not in use.

As per The Verge, as compared to a standard TV, LG’s rollable TV features a new ‘Line Mode’ where the TV rolls up to show only a quarter of the screen and has a dedicated user interface that enables music playback, control smart home gadgets and convey information like time and weather. User can also use a built-in Amazon Alexa assistant, in addition to Google Assistant, to control it with their voice.
LG did not release details about when the TV will go up for sale or how much it will cost, but it assumed that it would surely come in with a hefty price tag.
Other than this, LG also displayed an 88-inch 8K OLED TV that contains Crystal Sound screen tech which eliminates the need for speakers. There was also a 27-inch Neo Art Portable Monitor Display that is easily transportable, thin and light-designed.
