Health, education, drinking water & sewerage are considered to be the main contributors of citizen welfare. After 70 years, as the 6th most populous country in the world, Pakistan faces the following health challenges:
-- Neonatal Mortality rate 46/1000
-- Infant mortality rate 64/1000
-- Under 5 year mortality rate 79/1000
-- Materiality mortality rate 170/100,000
-- Human Development Index 110/186 (nations)
-- Gender Inequality 123/186 (nations)
In the early 19th Century, only Lady Dufferin Hospital (1885) & Civil Hospital Karachi (1898) were the only health facilities that existed in Karachi. In 1918, Kharadar General Hospital started domiciliary services and now in 2018, it has not only become one of the leading ISO Certified health care providers but also a post graduate training & teaching center.
Kharadar General Hospital has accreditations from the most prestigious organizations including CPSP, PMDC, PNC, DUMHS, RIQAS, Q-CERT, NEEQAB, SNEB, SMF, and BFSCP. Since its inception the Hospital has treated millions of patients from the most underprivileged community of Lyari, old city area of Karachi, nearby cities of Baluchistan as well as attached border population of Iran.
Under the visionary leadership of Mr. M. Bashir JanMohammad & Prof. A. G. Billoo, Kharadar General Hospital has become a role model for developing countries. Kharadar General Hospital has been playing a national role for completing 6000 safe deliveries per year, saving thousands of children's lives, conducting 5000 surgeries & providing critical care for serious patients.
KGH School of Nursing is providing high quality professional education and is creating opportunities for Lyari's girls & boys to become lifesavers. On the occasion of centenary celebrations, I acknowledge all my team members including admin, consultants, doctors, nurses and all support staff for their commitment & dedication.
