Seven labourers were burnt when fire broke out inside a non-operational ship parked at Gadani ship-breaking yard on Sunday. The area police told a news channel that condition of the three injured was critical. The injured were being taken to Karachi for medical treatment. The fire brigade team was busy in extinguishing fire that erupted due to work on an oil tanker inside the ship.
Five workers were killed after being roasted inside a ship in a similar incident Saturday and a week ago, a ship was set ablaze but no human loss or injury was reported. In 2016, during cleaning of an oil tanker, a ship caught fire leaving 23 labourers working at the site dead.
INP adds: Vice-chairperson of the ship-breaking yard, Ghani Seth, said the fire broke out in a cargo ship in plot 10 which engulfed the whole area despite they took safety measures at the yard.
