Municipal Commissioner Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) Dr. Saif-ur-Rehman has directed for immediate issuance of fair-rent notices to shopkeepers and managements of markets under the KMC's Estate department so that the KMC could recover rent for its shops at par the current market value.
The Municipal Commissioner, chairing a meeting at the KMC building here, said that the KMC was collecting a minimal rent for its shops which should be received at par with market value, said a statement on Sunday.
He said that fair-rent notices be prepared with the consultation of the Legal department of the KMC and these notice be served to the shopkeepers along with all relevant details.
Dr. Saif directed that all agreements and tenders of the KMC be discussed with the Legal department of the KMC ahead of sending the same onwards to concerned quarters so as to seek legal advice. The meeting was informed that work on new slaughter house in North Karachi will be started soon at the estimated cost of Rs 20 million, which is a part of the Annual Development Program.
The Municipal Commissioner directed the officials of the Legal department to ensure that only the concerned departments of the KMC should directly collect rent of the land which is its property.
Dr. Saif also called upon the officials of the KMC to improve the efficiency of their respective departments and play their role to further improve the performance.
