The Karachi Port handled 161,939 tonnes of cargo comprising 110,270 tonnes of import cargo and 51,669 tonnes of export cargo including 6,668 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 110,270 tonnes comprised of 52,098 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,364 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,610 tonnes of DAP; 3,988 tonnes of canola; 4,625 tonnes of rapeseed and 39,585 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 51,669 tonnes comprised of 21,994 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,275 tonnes of clinker and 17,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,668 containers comprising of 3,815 containers import and 2,853 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,209 of 20's and 1,288 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 15 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 658 of 20's and 214 of 40's loaded containers while 583 of 20's and 592 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely KMTC Dubai, Bomar Hermes, Athens Bridge, MT Lahore, Bunga Lavender, Glorious, Trans Autumn and Trenta carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Ever Deluxe, CMA CGM Rigoletto, MT Karachi, Ginga Leopard, Gelsius Miami, Mosel Ace and Glovis Prime carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 94,647 tonnes includes 15,694 tonnes of palm oil; 32,196 tonnes of coal; 1,325 tonnes of LPG; 12,952 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 7,400 tonnes of chemical and 25,080 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 46,303 tonnes includes 46,303 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,757 containers comprising of 1,320 containers import and 2,437 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV MOL Grandeur and MV Sky Light carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four ships namely CV Maersk Hartford, CV CSAV Tyndall, MV Shanghai and MT Maritime Kelly Anne carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV MOL Grandeur, CV Maersk Hartford, CV CSAV Tyndall, MV Sky Light, MV Hercules Ocean, MV Shanghai and MT Maritime Kelly Anne were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV GSL Tianjin, MV Aeolian Heritage, MV Epic Tetus, MV Maroudio, MV Intrepid Republic, MV Chem Buldog, MV Chem Road Echo, MT Maria-III and MT Ardmore carrying containers, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV GSL Tianjin, CV Maersk Bentonville and MT Chem Buldog carrying containers and chemical expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday There was one ship namely CV Maersk Bentonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while two ships namely CV CMA CGM Blue Whale and CV CMA CGM Rigoletto carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
